Identification Requirements For Notarizations In Idaho

Writer's picture: Susan CongerSusan Conger

In Idaho, a notary public can accept several types of identification from individuals seeking notarization of documents. The following forms of identification are acceptable:

· State-issued driver's license or identification card

· U.S. passport or passport card

· U.S. military identification card

· Tribal identification card

· Permanent resident card or alien registration receipt card (green card)

· Foreign passport stamped by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

It is important to note that the identification must be current and contain a photograph, physical description, and a signature of the individual. Additionally, the name on the identification must match the name of the individual seeking notarization.

If the individual does not have any of the above forms of identification, the notary public may accept the identification of two credible witnesses who have proper identification and can vouch for the identity of the individual seeking notarization.

It is important for notary publics to follow the identification requirements set forth by the state in order to ensure the validity and legal standing of the notarized documents.
